Last Days
So, I'm typing this entry at the airport as I'm about to leave Singapore. The last three days have been the best times here. I feel like we got to celebrate what was great about Singapore: recreation. Singapore really was a great place for a springboard to other locations and if you could afford it, the citylife. I think my favorite memory of Singapore will be watching fireworks in the Marina Bay Sands pool on NDP.
Considering EAPSI, the closing ceremony was short and sweet. One other advice I would give about leaving Singapore is make sure you get the correct terminal since the skytram doesn't run between 2:30AM to 5AM.
I will probably have some closing thoughts as I'm able to digest this experience a little more and have to document it to NSF.

Patriotism
I had an opportunity this past weekend to go to the practice National Day Parade. I thought it was a great example of Singapore culture at its best. However, only a few of the group got to see the event.
I should say that parade was not like an American parade but more like a military parade. The area, Padang, was right in front of City Hall and it was converted into an outdoor stadium that could not have fit more than 20,000 people. Here is a video of it being built.
I was in the yellow seats.
By the end of the night, I could not get the Singapore national songs out of my head. Also, I understood the pillars of Singapore nationalism. Now, I have been indoctrinated.

The Why
One of my group posted about Singapore and Google. This is what EAPSI is paying us to do, contemplate the intricacies of life.

Countries
This summer, I collect currency wherever I go. I have made it a goal to keep the least amount of change when I leave one country. Change cannot be converted to another currency. Right now, I have the most Taiwanese change however, I managed to leave Malaysia with only .15 ringgits this past weekend.
During my stay in Singapore, I've been in Indonesia, Macau, and Malaysia. With one more destination to go, my favorite so far is Malaysia. Malaysians seemed more helpful and nice yet conservative.
Also, in spite of the less than stellar stay on the Washington Sheraton, Malaysian Sheraton treated me quite well.
Indonesia was a mishmash of different cultures and sometimes different eras of industrialization. Macau is what it is but it has a flavor of the European that I didn't expect. For me, Malaysia was good food and shopping but in everything, I felt authenticity in its culture.
